The ESTATE

The Mazzarosa Estates in Abruzzo span approximately 500 hectares, with 27 dedicated to vineyards aged between 20 and 40 years, located in one of the most favorable areas in Abruzzo for winemaking: the Colline Teramane DOCG.

The rest of the estate is dedicated to the production of wheat, soy, olive oil, and various other crops, reflecting our commitment to diverse and sustainable agriculture.

The Nature Reserve

The Mazzarosa Devincenzi wine cellar is located in the heart of the Borsacchio Nature Reserve, in the coastal area of the province of Teramo.

The reserve was instituted in 2005 in order to protect the territory from urbanisation to preserve its authentic beauty and is a true naturalistic potential.

The Vineyards

Our vineyards flourish on a steep hillside 100 to 150 meters above sea level, embraced by the Vomano River and just a short distance from the Adriatic Sea.

This prime south and southeast exposure ensures abundant sunlight, promoting exceptional grape ripening. The river reflects sunlight and moderates temperatures, while gentle sea breezes bring a fresh touch of flavor during the day.

At night, cool, dry winds descend from the Gran Sasso mountains, creating temperature variations that enhance the aromatic complexity of our grapes. This unique interplay of elements shapes a terroir perfect for cultivating extraordinary wines.

The wine-making: Technique & Philosophy

Cantina Mazzarosa Devincenzi’s wines are produced exclusively with the grapes cultivated and harvested on the estate’s properties.

Each phase of the production is followed and taken care with accuracy and attention, beginning from the cultivation of the vineyard: we take great care of the soil and practice the technique of guided farming, realized following the principles of “integrated agriculture”, which implies treatments on plants only when needed instead of on a schedule, preferring products allowed on organic cultivation and introducing to the winery only grapes with no residual of chemicals.

All of this gives birth to a healthy and natural product in the vineyard, that maintains its properties in the cellar.

Sustainibility

Sustainability

We have always worked our land with full respect for the environment and human health, producing fresh, natural products that embody the essence of Abruzzo.

Our commitment continues in the cellar, where we use traditional vinification methods with minimal intervention, carefully overseen by our oenologists.

Thanks to these sustainable practices, both in the vineyard and the cellar, our farm has earned the prestigious European SQNPI Certification for environmental sustainability and integrated agriculture.

The CELLAR

Our cellar, the oldest in the Abruzzo region, stands as a remarkable testament to the rich history of winemaking.

The Mazzarosa family has worked diligently to preserve its original 1860s appearance, offering a glimpse into the past.

This cellar is not only a fine example of industrial archaeology in winemaking but also houses unique treasures, including the largest wooden barrel in Europe, with an impressive capacity of 1,000 hectoliters, and a rare water elevator.

These historical features underscore our dedication to honoring tradition while crafting exceptional wines.
